Description of Third Grade Courses
Art
  • uses crayons and chalk to draw pictures derived from experiences, fantasy, and book
  • designs paper masks and discusses uses of masks in various cultures
  • designs sock puppets and writes dialogue for the puppets in different languages
Communication Arts and Reading
  • summarizes orally presented information
  • interprets poetry with choral speaking
  • begins to appreciate literature that reflects our multicultural society
  • distinguishes between fact and opinion
  • expands vocabulary in all content areas
  • keeps personal journals and learning logs

Health and Physical Education
  • participates in climbing, supporting, and balancing activities on gym equipment

Mathematics
